The Stone Roses – I Wanna Be Adored (Live In Blackpool)

Thank’s for the submission!! This is a new song to me but it is clearly unique and lovely. It is gentle, beautiful, rocking and all at once brooding and intense like Conrad’s towering green jungle.

Music video by The Stone Roses performing I Wanna Be Adored. (C) 2004 Silvertone Records Limited

I don’t have to sell my soul
He’s already in me
I don’t need to sell my soul
He’s already in me

I wanna be adored
I wanna be adored

I don’t have to sell my soul
He’s already in me

I don’t need to sell my soul
He’s already in me

I wanna be adored
I wanna be adored

Adored

I wanna be adored
You adore me
You adore me
You adore me
I wanna
I wanna
I wanna be adored

Wanna
I wanna
I wanna be adored

I wanna
I wanna
I wanna be adored

I wanna
I wanna
I gotta be adored

I wanna be adored

“Mirror in the Bathroom” –The English Beat

The Beat – Mirror In The Bathroom, Rockpalast, 1980

This Ska gem written by The English Beat singer and guitarist Dave Wakeling reminds me of my youth in the late 80s of Philly. Hair pouring over the front of my face, short and jagged around the ears and back of head. Tight jeans and Chuck Taylors and some black or checkered button down shirt worn for the night out with my mates. Trying to run the streets like I had any idea what I was doing and like we wouldn’t end up home alone with a couple of crappy beers from the Greek take-out on Spruce that would serve us kids.

Then there was this song to Skank around the room to and it was all alright.

Mirror in the bathroom
please talk free
The door is locked
just you and me.
Can I take you to a restaurant
that’s got glass tables
You can watch yourself
while you are eating.
Mirror in the bathroom
I just can’t stop it,
Every Saturday you see me
window shopping.
Find no interest in the
racks and shelves
Just a thousand reflections
of my own sweet self, self, self…
Mirror in the bathroom
You’re my mirror in the bathroom
You’re my mirror in the bathroom
You’re my mirror in the bathroom…
Mirror in the bathroom
recompense
For all my crimes
of self defense.
Cures you whisper
make no sense
Drift gently into
mental illness.
Mirror in the bathroom
please talk free
The door is locked
just you and me.
Can I take you to a restaurant
that’s got glass tables
You can watch yourself
while you are eating.
Mirror in the bathroom
Mirror in the bathroom…

“Echoes”–Pink Floyd

Watch this musical and cinematic miracle. Pink Floyd live in Pompeii in the remnants of the Colosseum playing an over 24 minute work of art, pure aural and visual splendor.

If you have never seen this, now is the time!!!!!!!!

Overhead the albatross
Hangs motionless upon the air
And deep beneath the rolling waves
In labyrinths of coral caves
An echo of a distant time
Comes willowing across the sand
And everything is green and submarine.

And no one called us to the land
And no one knows the where’s or why’s.
Something stirs and something tries
Starts to climb toward the light.

Strangers passing in the street
By chance two separate glances meet
And I am you and what I see is me.
And do I take you by the hand
And lead you through the land
And help me understand
The best I can.

And no one called us to the land
And no one crosses there alive.
No one speaks and no one tries
No one flies around the sun….

Almost everyday you fall
Upon my waking eyes,
Inviting and inciting me
To rise.
And through the window in the wall
Come streaming in on sunlight wings
A million bright ambassadors of morning.

And no one sings me lullabyes
And no one makes me close my eyes
So I throw the windows wide
And call to you across the sky.

“Black Hole Sun”–Soundgarden

Soundgarden Live 1996

The Great orginal Music video by Soundgarden for A&M Records

This Chris Cornell composition was released in 1994 as the third single from the band’s fourth studio album Superunknown . I was not deep into the grunge scene. I really liked punk, classic rock, jazz, and reggae at the time, but something about this song seemed epic. It was like a modern day version of the Yes’s, Roundabout, a pop and rock song perfectly balanced and with a hook that drilled deep into my head.

Revisiting the song the lyric and performance reminds me of a prayer for the apocalypse.

Chris Cornell Solo

In my eyes,
Indisposed,
In disguise
As no one knows.
Hides the face,
Lies the snake,
And the sun
In my disgrace.
Boiling heat,
Summer stench.
‘Neath the black
The sky looks dead.
Call my name
Through the cream,
And I’ll hear you
Scream again.

Black hole sun,
Won’t you come
And wash away the rain?
Black hole sun,
Won’t you come?
Won’t you come?
Won’t you come?
